All-University Points Awards

All teams are eligible and encouraged to participate in the All-University Points Competition (unless otherwise stated in eligibility policy guidelines).  Points are awarded based on participation and final standings.  Divisions that are available for competing include: Men’s, Women’s and Co-Rec.

  • The overall winners of the All-University Points Race in the three (3) separate divisions will be honored on a plaque which is displayed in the Competitive Sports Office.
  • All sports will count for points EXCEPT Special Events and exhibition sports.
  • Teams Receive points if they complete the entire season/tournament without forfeiting out of competition.
  • In order to accumulate points throughout the year, teams must keep the same team name in each sporting activity (i.e. Pike A and Pi Kappa Alpha A are not the same team name).
  • Points from different teams within an organization will not be combined.
  • A team will receive points if one (1) or more of its members participate in an individual/dual event.
  • If more than one third of a team’s entrants forfeit in an individual/dual event, the team will not receive participation points.
  • A team will receive team sport points if four (4) or more of its members participate in a meet. If less than four (4) team members participate, and the team meets the participation requirements for an individual/dual sport, they will receive 25 participation points only and no placement points.
  • Sportsmanship has a direct effect of the overall points tallied per sport (see sportsmanship policy for more detailed information).
  • All university points can be requested in the Competitive Sports Office @ least 48 hours in advance.
  • All decisions regarding policies and procedure adjustments will be voted upon by the Sports Advisory Board.

Officiating for all-university points

The Intramural Sports Program is constantly in need of qualified sports officials. Opportunities available include officiating the five (5) major team sports: Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball. Opportunities are also available to officiate the following mini-season team sports: Indoor Soccer, Floor Hockey, and Team Handball. These officiating opportunities offer organizations within the All-University Points race to generate extra points that aid the team’s final standings. Each organization (separate team names) is able to use three (3) separate officials per sport to accomplish this task. Note: for all team members who desire to officiate for points must be designated before the end of each sport training.

There are two (2) types of officiating point values.

25pts. for mini-season team sports and 25 more points for making a championship game (full season requirement) 50pts. for major team sport officiated and 50 more points for making a championship game (full season requirement) When officiating for points officials must make it known to the IM Sports Office. Each organization is allowed up to three (3) officials per sport who can get points.
