Learn to Swim

Oklahoma State University Department of Wellness is proud to offer the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program as part of our aquatic programming.
The Learn-to-Swim Program begins with the basics of swimming and water acclimation (i.e. blowing bubbles, movement, etc.) and progresses through stroke introduction, development and refinement.  The program also includes valuable tips, tricks and practices how to safely enjoy the aquatic environment. Participants must be a minimum of 6 months old at the start of their first lesson.

Group lessons are one instructor to four participants. The group lesson packages will consist of ten, 40-minute lessons (Monday-Friday) for 2 weeks.

Private and Group Lesson FAQs

  • How do I register for swim lessons?

Participants for all swim lessons must register online at rec.wellness.okstate.edu. Payment may be made using a debit/credit card. Registration opens on April 22 at 9 a.m. and will close the Monday prior to the start of the session (i.e Week 1 closes May 27th). Registration deadlines will not be extended for any reason. There is no limit to the number of swim lesson weeks you can enroll in. It is encouraged to enroll in several weeks, as the participant is more likely to retain the information and progress their skills with more time in the water.
