Intramural Sports

Officials/Check-In Staff

Officials

Individuals with an extensive playing background are encouraged to become an intramural official, but previous officiating experience is not required. Mandatory training clinics prior to each team sport covers rules, mechanics and procedures. You may officiate and continue to play intramural sports. Opportunities available include officiating Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Softball, Floor Hockey, 2-ball Indoor Soccer, Team Handball and Volleyball.

Check-In Staff

Work study students only. Position will require training and strict attention to detail, no prior experience required. As check-in manager you will have to check-in players for their intramural games & swipe ID cards for entry into the Annex. Must have excellent hand writing, customer service skills, and be able to work outside on fields.

Intramural Supervisor

Students who possess excellent interpersonal skills, familiarity with organized sports, demonstrate leadership experiences and a strong commitment to student services. Anyone with at least one (1) year of experience with our program as an official can apply for our supervisor positions.

Office Staff

Office Staff – Office duties such as filing, greeting customers, answering phones, and some paperwork.

Office hours are M-F 8a-8p (varying shifts)

Competitive Sports Supervisor

Recreation Sports Supervisors are responsible for each intramural and club sport event to run smoothly, and provide excellent customer service to our students and staff.

They are required to be experienced in refereeing, game management, and conflict resolution.

Fitness & Wellness

Wellness Internships

Internships are available to students with backgrounds in exercise science, health/wellness, health promotion, physical education, marketing/advertising, nutrition, computer science, or student personnel.

Interns will gain experience and have responsibilities in the following areas: fitness testing, facilities operations, exercise prescription, health promotion, exercise program orientation, wellness counseling, exercise supervision, marketing, development and implementation of special programs, organization and distribution of health education materials

Personal Trainer

Department of Wellness Personal Trainers will be expected to create, maintain and modify top-notch program designs by creating work-out programs, completing appropriate assessments, goal setting and education of proper use of fitness equipment. They will be expected to demonstrate excellent customer service by displaying the following aspects in training: Motivational skills/empathy, confidence, personal interaction and professional attire. Personal Trainers are required to have a Nationally Recognized Certification (ACSM, ACE, NASM, etc) and a Current CPR/AED Certification. The ACE Preparation Course offered by OSU and First Aid Certification is recommended.

Fitness Associate

Individuals will work as part of the floor staff at the Colvin Recreation Center and Seretean Wellness Center.  Fitness Associates enforce Department of Wellness policies, provide exercise supervision, equipment orientation, maintain the cleanliness of the equipment, and demonstrate excellent customer service. Additionally, all employees are required to provide a welcoming inclusive environment at all times. This position is for Fall 2017.

Communications/Marketing

The Department of Wellness is looking for a self-motivated, creative and professional Strategic Communications student to fulfill their needs as a communications student employee. This position will help promote Intramurals, Fitness, Outdoor Adventure and other wellness initiatives. This is a paid student employee position expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. Hours can be flexible to fit your academic schedule. 

This position is responsible for writing news releases, designing fliers, posters and other promotional pieces, creating/uploading website content, updating social media- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, updating the OSU calendar with events, updating the department website, working special events, photography, new student orientation promotion and other miscellaneous assignments. From this position, the student will have the opportunity to enhance your personal portfolio and gain hands-on real world experience

Requirements

Student Employee Videographer

The Department of Wellness is looking for a self-motivated, creative and professional student videographer to fulfill their need as a student employee videographer. This is a paid student employee position. Videographer will film and edit promotional and informational footage for the Department of Wellness, which includes programs, services and events for both the Colvin Recreation Center and Seretean Wellness Center. This position is expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. Hours can be flexible to work with the student academic schedule. Student must be willing to work evening and/or occasional weekend programs and special events. Applicant must submit work samples with application.

Requirements: MMJ 3153 Fundamentals of Audio & Video Production.

Responsibilities:
• Gathering and editing footage including b-roll, and interviews.
• Scheduling video shoots
• Produce/edit videos including creative use of graphics and music
• Writing metadata for the video and sending the information to OSTATE.TV

Skills:
Able to shoot and edit video that has appropriate lighting and shot composition and clean audio. 
Must be able to edit on Final Cut X.

Graphic Design Student Employee

The Department of Wellness is looking for a self-motivated, creative junior or senior level graphic design student to fulfill their needs as a graphic design student employee. This is a paid student employee position expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. Hours can be flexible to fit your academic schedule.

Requirements: Applicants must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and able to work proficiently on a Mac or Windows.

Applicants should also be organized, able to manage multiple projects at a time, able to meet short deadlines, have good communication skills and must work well with others. Knowledge of Powerpoint, AP writing style and marketing experience is a plus but not required. Student must have taken or be currently enrolled in one of the following courses:
ART 3413 Typography II
ART 3423 Graphic Design II
ART 3463 Interaction Design I

Outdoor Adventure

Discover Adventure Student Worker

Discover Adventure is currently seeking friendly, outgoing, hard-working and adventurous student workers to join our team over the summer and beyond.  Our student workers will be trained to work a variety of jobs including Climbing Wall Office Assistant, Climbing Wall Lifeguard, Rental Shop Assistant, Camp Redlands Ground Maintenance, and Challenge Course Facilitator.

Job Duties:

  • Climbing Wall Desk Supervision -
    • Office phone, email, reservations, check in climbers
  • Cash Register Supervision -
    • Money drawer, point of sale transactions, receipts
  • Climber Supervision -
    • Monitor climbers 
    • Belay for climbers
  • Rental Shop -
    • Check in/out rental equipment
    • Set up tents, wash dishes, wash sleeping bags, load/unload kayaks and canoes, inventory
  • Camp Redlands -
    • Mowing and maintaining the grounds
    • Cleaning and stocking the Bathhouse
  • Challenge Course -
    • Help patrons with harnesses
    • Ensure participants know and adhere to the procedures of the Challenge Course
    • Manage the entry way of the course
    • Set up/take down equipment
  • ​Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must attend CCIT Training May 14-18, 2018
  • Must attend BOLT Training August 6-12, 2018
  • OSU Working with Minors Training
  • CPR/AED Certification

  • Monthly staff meetings
  • This job requires working evenings and weekends, inside and outside, during the summer months

Pay Range:

  • $7.25/hour to $8.50/hour
  • Pay varies per job assignment

Aquatics

Lifeguard

Lifeguards work at both the Outdoor Leisure pool (typically opened from Spring Break to Fall Break) and the Indoor Pool (opened year round). Must be a certified lifeguard, preferably through American Red Cross.

Positions will open again closer to the Fall Semester.

Swim Instructor

Swim Instructors will teach private and group lessons at our Outdoor Leisure Pool. Instructors will work May thru August, with the possibility of staying on during the school (No certification required!).

Operations

IT Student Employee

The Information Technology student employee position is an undergraduate position at the Department of Wellness that assists with day to day website, audio/visual, and workstation support under the supervision of the IT coordinator. Successful candidates will support the professional and operational staff of the department with their IT needs along with assisting in coordination with vendors and campus IT services.  They must have a passion for IT and understand that the position has a lot of variability and requires and builds upon a general skill set. Initiative, critical thinking, and problem solving skills are a must to excel in this position.

IT Technician duties involve troubleshooting, repair, assisting departmental staff in all aspects of technology use, maintaining documentation, and working on complex IT projects.

Web development, networking, troubleshooting, and IT security experience are all important things that can be developed in this position. We would prefer you have an existing background in working on and maintaining computer systems.

Center Manager

Center Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of Department of Wellness facilities 
  • Perform guest pass sales as needed  
  • Perform facility counts, and enforce Department of Wellness policies.  
  • The Center Manager position requires prior experience working in a leadership position on campus or in a fitness, recreation or wellness facility. Students working in a previous position within the Department of Wellness are encouraged to apply.  
  • This leadership position will provide customer service and be responsible for opening and closing the Colvin Recreation Center and Seretean Wellness Center as well as  supervising other student employees on shift and will be the first responder to accidents and/or incidents. 

Must be a current Oklahoma State University-Stillwater student. Must have worked a minimum of one semester at the Colvin Center

Office Assistant

Office Assistant

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  •  Sales in the areas of memberships, locker rentals, personal training services, swim lesson packages, and guest packages  
  •  Entering data, making photocopies, scanning, filing, shredding and creating or updating documents.  
  •  Excellent communication and customer service skills along with a personable and pleasant attitude are prerequisites. 

 Required proficiency in Word and Excel and the ability to learn other programs are needed. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary.

Must be a current Oklahoma State University-Stillwater student. Must have worked at least one semester for the Department of Wellness

Operations Attendant

Operations Attendant


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing customer service regarding general inquiries and programming information  
  • Checking equipment in and out  
  • Inventory control  
  • Assisting with laundry  
  • Enforcing policies and verifying authenticity of patrons authorized to use the facility. 

In all areas, this position will be the customer service and information agent of the Department of Wellness promoting programs and services. 

Must be an Oklahoma State University-Stillwater students.
