Seretean Wellness Center Staff

Robin began her nursing career in 1978 in critical care. Following a variety of experiences in intensive and critical care, she helped establish the cardiac rehabilitation program at Oklahoma State University. In 1988, she earned a Master of Science degree from OSU in Exercise Physiology. She is the Director of the Wellness Center and directs rehabilitation and medical services, and programs for OSU's faculty, staff, and students. Robin is an adjunct instructor in the department of Health and Human Performance, where she teaches ECG Interpretation and Cardiac Rehab. Robin is a certified Program Director with the American College of Sports Medicine and serves on its national committee for Certification and Education. She is a Fellow of the National American Association of Cardiovascular/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation and serves on the state advisory board. Robin's areas of expertise include: smoking cessation (Smoke Stoppers ™), exercise and lifestyle counseling, and wellness program development. She is the co-author of numerous research publications and the principal author of Pure Practice for the 12-Lead ECG. Robin lectures internationally on the subject of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

Kenda Baker, Physician Assistant, (PA) received her Bachelors of Science degree in Medicine from Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in 1992. She has worked as a Physician Assistant in the Stillwater area since graduation. Kenda's first five years of experience in the health care industry was in Internal Medicine. She's spent the past four years working in Dermatology. Kenda joined the Seretean Wellness Center staff in January, 2002. She works in the Employee Health Clinic with Dr. Sam Earnest, treating patients with minor/acute illnesses. Kenda is licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure & Supervision and holds her national certification through the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of PAs and the Oklahoma Academy of PAs.

Lisa Croston is the fiscal manager for all Seretean Wellness Center Sponsered Programs. She also coordinates the Residential Care Administrator Certification Program for the Seretean Wellness Center. Lisa joined the Seretean Wellness Center team in January 1991 when she accepted a position with the Employee Assistance Program and Dr. William Gentry. Two years later, she became the Grants and Contract Unit Assistant for the Seretean Wellness Center. Lisa is the Seretean Wellness Center's representative on the staff development committee for the Division of Student Affairs. She designs and promotes educational programs for Division employees. Lisa graduated from OSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology.

Linda received her M.S. in School Psychology from Columbia University in 1977 and her B.S. in Secondary Education and Child Development from University of Houston in 1974. She worked as a school psychologist with the Houston Independent School District and as Supervisor of Psychological Services at The John E. Fogarty Center in Providence, RI before her appointment as Manager of Oklahoma ABLE Tech in October, 1995. In February, 2006 Linda was appointed Assistant Director for Sponsored Programs at the Seretean Wellness Center. Linda is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America, the National Mental Health Association, and the National Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs (where she served as Chair). She is very involved throughout the State and Nation in programs and services for persons with disabilities, sitting on a number of boards and legislative task forces.

Dr. Gentry is a native Oklahoman who received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 1982. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who initiated the Oklahoma State University Employee Assistance Program and remains as the program coordinator. In addition, he serves as an adjunct instructor in the department of Health and Human Performance, where he teaches Drug and Alcohol Education. His 30+ years of mental health service provision includes work in agencies, independent practice and consultation. His education and work in business and mental health offer some unique perspectives on the interplay of the two disciplines. Dr. Gentry is a certified True Colors ® trainer and frequently presents workshops on stress management, assertiveness, communication, and approaches to positive mental health.

Tammie graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She started working at OSU in 1986, transferring to the Seretean Wellness Center in 1992. As Administrative Associate she is in charge of budget, payroll, personnel/human resources, purchasing, accounting (accounts payable and non-medical accounts receivable), facilities & equipment management/maintenance, supervision of front desk staff, and administrative support for the Director.

Receiving her B.S. and M.S. in Foods and Nutrition from Ohio University, Elizabeth has been the staff dietitian for the Seretean Wellness Center since 1990. Certified by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, she is a member of the American and Oklahoma Dietetic Association. As director of nutrition services for the Wellness Center, she assists and advises students, faculty, university staff, and community members about good health and disease prevention by focusing on the need to change nutritional habits into life-long commitments. In addition to counseling individuals with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, eating disorders, and other food-related concerns, Elizabeth has given presentations to university athletic teams, undergraduate nutrition classes, and community groups on a variety of nutrition topics. Since its inception in 1992, she has been a member of the Eating Disorder Task Force on the OSU campus. Among the programs offered at the Seretean Wellness Center, Elizabeth has developed and implemented a cooking series to teach people how to prepare foods lower in fat, sodium, and cholesterol. This program has drawn individuals from both the university and Stillwater community interested in food preparation as well as healthy cuisine.

Mary received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Community Wellness and a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion from Oklahoma State University. In her current position as Program Manager, she oversees day-to-day operations of the facility, supervises the O-Zone fitness center, coordinates student recruitment (interns and graduate assistants), and assists with conferences hosted or coordinated by the Wellness Center. Students interested in paid internships and graduate assistantships should contact Mary directly. She holds numerous certifications in the areas of exercise science, health education, and worksite wellness programming, most notably:
- American College of Sports Medicine – Health/Fitness Director
- National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. – Certified Health Education Specialist; and
- National Wellness Institute – Worksite Wellness Program Coordinator
She is also certified by the American Heart Association as a BLS (Basic Life Support) Instructor.

Rachel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education and a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion both from Oklahoma State University. She began her career as the Wellness Director for Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS. She returned to Oklahoma State University as an Exercise Specialist for Campus Recreation. Her career path next led to the position of Health Educator for the Seretean Wellness Center and University Health Services. Currently, she serves as the Coordinator of this department. She developed the Share the WEALTH Peer Health Education program, the Wellness State Freshman Orientation program, and other health/wellness awareness and prevention programs across campus. She has taught various academic courses for the College of Applied Health and Educational Psychology at OSU including Community Health, Psychosocial Issues in Health, and Peer Education Development I and II. Currently, she serves as coordinator and primary lecturer for Total Wellness. Rachel also is the program coordinator for the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust grant. She serves on a number of task forces, such as the Campus Coalition for Substance Abuse.

Kendria is a 1991 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, holding a degree in Sociology and a minor in Office Information Management. She oversees all marketing aspects of the SWC, including promotion of the O-Zone Fitness Center, Employee Health Clinic, Employee Assistance Program, Massage Therapy, Cooking Demonstrations, Grab and Go Lunch Options, Wellness Wednesdays, and personal training. She also manages the SWC listserv, oversees the SWC website, Choose Orange website, EAP website, and Tobacco Stops Here website. She also coordinates the Seretean Memorial Wellness Walk for the United Way. Before joining the OSU Seretean Wellness Center in July 2005, she served as program coordinator in the Center for Executive and Professional Development in the Spears School of Business. In addition to the marketing position she holds at the OSU Seretean Wellness Center, she also coordinates the American Cancer Society's OSU Coaches vs. Cancer Program on behalf of OSU. Working with head basketball coaches Travis Ford and Kurt Budke, she works with a team of volunteers to raise money for cancer research, education, and patient services. Visits are also conducted in pediatric oncology units in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City with players, coaches, Pistol Pete, and former OSU players. The CvC committee and former Head Coach Eddie Sutton have been nationally recognized for their contributions to the American Cancer Society. The Coaches vs Cancer program at OSU ranks first in the Big 12, first in the American Cancer Society’s High Plains Division, and is one of the top ten programs in the nation.
Sam L. Earnest, M.D. Medical Director 405.744.9355
Dr. Earnest graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and specializes in Internal Medicine. He has had a successful private practice for over twenty years and recently joined the Warren Clinic as physician and Medical Director. He has served as Chief of Staff and Director of Respiratory and Electrocardiography Services at Stillwater Medical Center. He has also been a medical representative for the Oklahoma State Peer Review Board. He is currently Medical director for the Oklahoma State University Wellness Center stress-testing laboratory and for the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. Dr. Ernest is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians and numerous other professional organizations. He is an entertaining speaker and has been invited to present seminars at many professional meetings.

Elaine manages all telephone calls and walk-ins for the Employee Health Clinic. Scheduling acute care appointments, wellness physicals and wellness screenings, answering inquiries about insurance and Wellness Center functions, is just part of the task of managing the laboratory desk. Elaine also oversees the asbestos physical program in the conjunction with Environmental Health Services. Among other job duties, Elaine supervises student work-study, practicum, interns and graduate assistants in the daily routine of the Wellness Center laboratory.

Tabi received her Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Oklahoma State University in 2007. While working on her degree, Tabi worked part-time at the Seretean Wellness Center and finished her degree by completing her internship there as well.
As a Medical Assistant, Tabi assists the physician and physician’s assistant with physicals and medical procedures. Among other job duties, she also helps conduct Faculty/Staff and Student screenings and Pulmonary Function Tests. Tabi is also a Certified Nurse Assistant.

Whitney is the Sr. Administrative Support Specialist for the Employee Assistance Program. She manages all telephone calls, schedules Dr. Gentry’s daily appointments, updates client reports, intake information, and completes dictation. In the afternoons, Whitney puts on the hat of Marketing Assistant and provides assistance with all marketing components of the Seretean Wellness Center. Her duties in marketing consist of a variety of jobs, including updating Grab N’ Go lunch schedules, marketing Wellness Wednesdays, creating the monthly Employee Health Clinic postcards, and designing brochures as needed. Whitney attended College of Southern Idaho where she played basketball for the Golden Eagles. She is married to Brad Garrett who is currently on the OSU men’s basketball team.
