Hearing Screenings and Evaluations at OSU
The Department of Wellness partners with the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CDIS) to provide FREE hearing screenings to OSU employees. Screenings are offered once a semester and appointments must be made prior to the event date. A licensed audiologist and a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist are both on-site to supervise the screenings and results will be available instantly.
Having a hearing screening helps determine whether a person’s hearing is within normal limits or if a referral for a complete hearing evaluation is needed. Oklahoma ABLE Tech will be on-hand to show faculty and staff assistive technology solutions, like digital listening devices, that may be used to amplify sound for the user. Through ABLE Tech’s short-term device loan program, individuals may try a device to ensure compatibility and help them to make an informed decision before purchase.
Need to Schedule a Hearing Screening?
Save the Date! The next hearing screening will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 in Murray Hall 042. Appointments are available on a first-come first-serve basis. The screening is FREE, but you must schedule an appointment by contacting Tabi Deal at 744.2354 or email@example.com.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication or Speech-Generating Device Evaluations
The Department of Wellness also partners with CDIS to provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluations, also known as speech-generating device (SGD) evaluations for OSU faculty, staff, and students as well as the public. An evaluation, such as this, might be needed for individuals of any age who are unable to speak and be understood orally.
Evaluations will result in the recommendation for specific equipment such as a speech-generating device. Through ABLE Tech’s short-term device loan program, individuals may try a device to ensure compatibility and help them to make an informed decision before purchase.
Need to Schedule an Evaluation?
